Hi, I’m Callum. I design it, then I build it.

My route here is a bit unusual: a computer science degree, nearly five years designing and building for Mount Royal University in Canada, then an MSc in Design and Digital Media at the University of Edinburgh, which I completed with Distinction. Today I’m in the Scheduling team at Dayshape, helping a very busy Gantt chart feel a little less scary.

I like products that make people a bit nervous: money, health, learning and big plans. I design in Figma, then I like to get my hands dirty in code. I’ve built interfaces in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React and TypeScript, and shipped an iOS app in SwiftUI.

AI is part of my workflow too. I use it to explore ideas faster, generate variations, test edge cases and speed up prototypes. It doesn’t replace design judgement or talking to real users.

What I’m good at

Product design — from research to flows to polished UI, accessible by default (WCAG 2.1 AA). Design systems — tokens, components and documentation. Design engineering — prototypes that behave, plus real builds in SwiftUI and front-end code.

Where I’ve worked

Dayshape — Product Designer, Scheduling team (May 2026–present, Edinburgh). University of Edinburgh — Academic Tutor, MSc Design and Digital Media (Sep 2025–present). Ziyx — Senior Product Designer (Jul 2025–Apr 2026, Glasgow). Mount Royal University — Product Designer & Developer (Nov 2019–Aug 2024, Calgary). Independent product designer and developer (2019–2026).

I’m open to full-time product design roles. Based in Edinburgh.
